Quality School Education for All

- Professor Marmar Mukhopadhyay

Government of India’s policy decision to move towards universal secondary education trough the mission of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan is the culmination of the discourse that began in 2001 in the National Conference, ‘Focus Secondary Education’. The International Conference on Universal Quality Secondary Education hosted by ETMA in 2007 was an effort to take the discourse further. This book brings together the keynote addresses presented by internationally acclaimed educationists like Dr. Karan Singh (Member of Parliament), Prof. Armaity Desai (Former Chairperson, UGC), Prof. H. S. Bhola (Indiana University), Prof. R. Douglas Greer (Teachers College, Columbia University), Prof. Craig Shealey and Prof. Devi Bhuyan (James Madison University), Prof. Gerald Burke and Prof. Phillip McKenzie (Monash University), Prof. Marmar Mukhopadhyay (ETMA); and a few selected papers covering wide-ranging issues, namely school education for sustainable development, role of higher education in improving quality of school education, science of education and learning, value education in the context of quality, economics of quality schooling, leadership for quality schooling, inclusive education, role of ICT, etc.

The book is a promise to enrich the Indian discourse on quality school education for all.
