Nurturing Brilliant Students

The project was started in 2010 to provide financial support to brilliant students from economically weak families who may otherwise leave education and join the employment sector as unskilled labour. It started with the personal contributions of like-minded people. Hence, this project is also called Personal Social Responsibility Programme (PRS). So far, more than 40 students have benefitted from the programme. Those who would have dropped out after the 10th board completed graduation, and some postgraduation; some completed engineering and polytechnic education and got into white collared employment. The scholars, thereby, brought their families out of the clutch of poverty.

Four scholars stood out.

  • Sri Partha Sil completed his M. Tech from IIT Kanpur; he is now pursuing a hD in Theoretical Mathematics at Indian Statistical Institute, New Delhi.
  • Sri Soumya Saha completed his M. Tech from IIT Mumbai and entered employment with TCS.
  • Sri Atanu Mondal completed his M. Tech from IIT Kharagpur and now pursuing PhD at IIT Kharagpur
  • Sri Saikat Jati completed his M.Sc., and now pursuing PhD at the Centre for Biomedical Research, Lucknow
